Unlike S. Fla, Midwest Experiencing Severe Weather
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – People in South Florida woke up to some minor flooding and plenty of heavy rain across the area. But while the sun came out across South Florida, residents in the Central Plains were experiencing a major severe weather outbreak.
The states of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska were expecting large, damaging tornadoes and large hail throughout Saturday evening.

Tornado warnings went up early in the morning Saturday for parts of Oklahoma where at least three tornadoes touched down in the early morning hours. But that was expected to be just the beginning of an expected large tornado outbreak.
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma took the almost unprecedented action of putting much of the area under a high risk of tornadoes nearly 72 hours ahead of the expected outbreak.
The SPC said strong to violent long-track tornadoes are likely and that if the tornadic outbreak lasts into the evening that fast-moving tornadoes will "heighten the risk to life and property."
Most of the area in the Central Plains has been placed under what is called a PDS Tornado Watch. The term PDS refers to what is known as a "particularly dangerous situation," which is the second most severe watch the SPC has behind an EDS Tornado Watch for "an extremely dangerous situation."
