Unique Digital Stocking Stuffers For Under $50
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - And the holiday shopping woes continue…want to give someone a high-tech gift but don't want to spend so much money doing so? CBS4's Vanessa Borge has several options for you.
A few high-tech gadgets on the market, which will ring-up at just under $50, are out there ready for purchase and placing in your loved ones stockings.
The Google Chromecast, with a price tag of $35, is sure to please most gift receivers—and not break the buyers' bank. The Chromecast is a device you plug into the HDMI slot on your TV, download the app, which turns your IOS or Android device into a remote, and then you can watch Netflix, HBO on the Go or You Tube videos on the big screen of your house.
A little more expensive, but some may say well worth it, is the $50 Roku LT which offers a larger selection of movies and television. There's no You Tube channel, but you can watch the other content Chromecast offers plus Amazon Instant and Hulu Plus.
With award-winning shows, like House of Cards, perhaps it's a good time to give the gift of a Netflix subscription. Six months will cost $40 dollars so receivers can indulge in some binge viewing to their liking.
Another option is the $49 iPod Shuffle—which is perfect for someone who is starting their music collection, or just wants a small hub for music on-the-go.
Music lovers will also appreciate the OontZ Angle Bluetooth Speaker. With a decent battery-life, the speaker can also be used for hands-free chatting.
Last but certainly not least, for the family member or friend that loves to sing—how about a $35 Karaoke2Go. The mic and speaker combination will turn a smartphone or tablet into a portable karaoke machine. Owners can download the karaoke cloud app and pick one of the free songs, some are there for purchase, and the lyrics pop up on the screen.
