UM's Duke Johnson Receives ACC Honor
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Hurricanes rebounded after being taking behind the woodshed for a beating at the hands of Kansas State with a victory over Bethune-Cookman on Saturday thanks in large part to the running of freshman Duke Johnson.
As a result of Johnson's performance, he's been named the ACC's Rookie of the Week.
Johnson has been electric both on and off the field and on Saturday against B-C, accounted for 246 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns. He ran the ball 14 times for a career high 94 yards and two touchdowns and caught three passes for 57 yards and one touchdown.
In the first quarter, Johnson electrified the small home crowd by returning a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. It was the eighth-longest return in school history and the first since Lamar Miller brought a kick back in 2010.
Johnson's standout performance against B-C was also the first time a Miami player scored four touchdowns in a single game since Tyrone Moss pulled off the feat against North Carolina in 2005.
