UM Star Reggie Johnson Out 6-8 Weeks
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Hurricanes were hoping to compete for a top position in the Atlantic Coast Conference behind the Duke Blue Devils. But that road just got a lot tougher for the Hurricanes thanks to the latest injury to a star player.
Hurricanes senior center Reggie Johnson will miss most of the ACC season with a broken left thumb. Johnson will miss at least six and possibly as many as eight weeks due to the injury.
Johnson missed last week's tournament in Hawaii and the Canes struggled, including a loss to lowly Indiana State. Johnson has started since his sophomore season and has already missed four games this year.
Before the injury, Johnson was averaging 12.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per game for the Canes. Miami opens ACC play this Saturday against Georgia Tech.
