UM President Takes Ice Bucket Challenge
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Ice Bucket Challenge is still hot, hot, hot as University of Miami President Donna Shalala took the plunge for a good cause.
Shalala was actually challenged four times, including by embattled Yankees third baseman and former UM baseball player Alex Rodriguez.
The challenge asks those willing to douse themselves with ice water to challenge others to do the same. The fundraising phenomenon has been used for other causes, but has recently gone viral and raised millions for the ALS Association.
Shalala had a little help with her Ice Bucket Challenge from UM mascot Sebastian the Ibis.

Other UM participants have included Hurricanes coaches Al Golden, Jim Larranaga and Katie Meier, Norm Parsons, executive director of the Herbert Wellness Center and the Dean of Students Ricardo Hall.
The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is a leader in ALS research, which is affiliated with the ALS recovery fund.
