UM Hires FSU Offensive Coordinator To Run Offense
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The University of Miami continued to remain red hot Thursday as the Canes football team plucked a talented assistant from arch rival Florida State.
According to CBS4 news partner the Miami Herald, FSU offensive coordinator James Coley told head coach Jimbo Fisher he was leaving the school to accept the same position at Miami.
Coley is an FSU graduate and made $390,000 last season and prepared the game plans for the Seminoles, but never called plays on game day. The calling of plays was left to Fisher.
UM head coach Al Golden offered Coley $500,000 and the play calling duties which helped seal the deal with the Canes.
Coley and former FSU defensive coordinator Mark Stoops have both left the program during the offseason. FSU also has a recruiting class ranked outside of the Top 10 for the first time in several years under Fisher.
The hiring of Coley comes during a phenomenal two weeks for the Canes. The U has hired Coley, former FIU head coach Mario Cristobal, the NCAA stepped into it with the U's investigation, and last night the men's basketball team thumped the number one team in the country.
