UM Among Top 100 Universities For Patents In 2012
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — The University of Miami is among five Florida universities ranked among the top 100 universities in the world for patents.
The National Academy of Inventors and the Intellectual Property Owners Association said UM ranked No. 92 with 21 patents in 2012.
University of South Florida researchers received 79 patents and were ranked No. 15, the highest among Florida schools on the list of 100. The University of Central Florida ranked No. 21 with 72 patents, the University of Florida Research Foundation was No. 22 with 70 patents, Florida State was No. 55 with 32 patents.
The list is based on data from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
