UF's Debose Tears ACL, Out For Season
GAINESVILLE (CBSMiami) – The Florida Gators offense and special teams units will be without one of their key weapons for the entire season.
Florida head coach Will Muschamp announced Wednesday that redshirt senior Andre Debose tore his anterior cruciate ligament and will have season-ending surgery once the swelling in the knee subsides.
Muschamp said Debose was "doing very well in camp" and that coaches were "more than pleased with his effort and attitude. UF's head coach said Debose planted his foot and his knee simply gave out.
"It is unfortunate and you feel bad anytime that someone is injured, and the coaching staff and our team will be very supportive in assisting Andre during his recovery," Muschamp said Wednesday.
Debose had 29 catches for 543 yards last season, but the biggest loss for the Gators will on kick returns. Debose hold the UF record with four kickoff returns for touchdowns during his career.
