UF Looks To Knock Off Cinderella Spartans
OMAHA, Neb. – Norfolk State became the biggest Cinderella at the NCAA Tournament ball Friday night by upsetting second-seed Missouri. The Spartans will be rewarded by facing a tournament-tested Florida Gators team Sunday.
Norfolk State dominated Missouri for much of the game and was led by 6'10", 240-pound center Kyle O'Quinn who had a coming out party against the overmatched Tigers. O'Quinn finished the upset of Mizzou with 26 points on 10-16 shooting.
Florida presents a completely new challenge for the Spartans. The Gators have been there and done that in the NCAA Tournament and want to make it back to the Sweet 16 this season.
The Gators started the tournament by annihilating the 10th seeded Virginia Cavaliers, 71-45 on Friday.
Norfolk State faces long odds as no 15th seed has ever made it to the Sweet 16 since the NCAA Tournament was expanded to 64 teams.
O'Quinn said he doesn't want the Spartans good feeling to end Sunday. Florida center Patric Young said he liked a great underdog story too, but planned on ending Norfolk State's on Sunday.
