Bird Road Shooting Leaves Bullet-Ridden Car, Sends 2 To Hospital
MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Two men were hurt and a third is being questioned after police responding to the report of a shooting found a bullet-riddled Mercedes in the middle of Bird near a shopping center in west Miami-Dade.
Miami-Dade Police spokesman Det. Roy Rutland said the shooting happened in or near the Mercedes, which police found in the middle of Bird Road, all doors flung open.
Rutland told CBS4's Tiffani Helberg that three men were taken into custody, then rushed to a waiting Miami-Dade Fire Rescue helicopter. Police said one man is in stable condition, and the other is in serious condition. They were not specific about the nature of the injuries.
A third man is in police custody, being questioned, but it's not known if the man was a suspect in the shooting or a victim. It was not immediately known why the shooting took place, if there were any other victims, or the names of the the people transported to the hospital.
Police said the victim and the shooters know each other.
Miami-Dade police confirmed traffic has been stopped in the area 97th Avenue and 99th Avenue on Bird Road.
