PEMBROKE PINES (CBSMiami) – Two people, including a high school graduate, lost their lives Friday morning after a chain reaction crash on the southbound lanes of I-75.
Liza Angulo, 17, was killed in the accident that happened at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. A 29-year-old male, Jonathan Astaphan, was also killed. His passenger, 25-year old Patricia Rolle was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators said there was a tractor trailer loaded with concrete walls at Pines Boulevard. As the tractor trailer was pulling out, one car, driven by Astaphan, hit and went underneath.

The top of the car was completely sheared off after it slid under the semi and continued traveling for about 800 feet before running off the road.
The tractor trailer continued southbound when a second car hit the right portion of the truck causing the concrete walls to fall on Angulo's car. She was headed home to Miramar.
Angulo graduated two weeks ago from American Heritage High School in Plantation.
"I was devastated. It took me a while to process it," said American Heritage School Principal Elise Blum. "I didn't want to believe it really that it was our Liza."
Angulo planned to attend the University of Miami.
"She was bright. She was intelligent. She was an honors student," Blum. "She was a good girl and it's a profound loss for our community. I can't even imagine how her parents are handling right now."
Liza's high school friends have gotten together and the school is sending grief counselors over to speak with them. They also have counselors available at the school.
"My last memory is of her in a cap and a gown, a yellow graduation gown, and she was happy and excited to be heading into the next phase of her life," said Blum.
"It's so sad and unfair," said a classmate.
Meantime, no one has been charged but Florida Highway Patrol is looking at whether the truck driver followed proper procedures.
There were no injuries to the drivers of the tractor trailers.
