Two Miami-Dade Police Officers Face Misconduct Allegations
MIAMI – (CBSMiami.com) – Two members of the Miami-Dade Police Department face allegations of misconduct and have been relieved of duty with pay.
The department said Thursday it had demoted Maj. Tyrone White, who works in the department's warrants bureau, and Det. Kiriakos A. Beruty, of the narcotics bureau.
Miami-Dade police did not reveal details of what the allegations were.
A spokesman for the Miami-Dade police department issued this statement: "In an effort to ensure a thorough and objective investigative process, MDPD Director James K. Loftus demoted Major White to his civil service rank of Captain. Major White and Detective Beruty have been relieved of duty with pay, pending the outcome of the Professional Compliance Bureau investigation."
