Two Found Dead In SW Dade Home
HOMESTEAD (CBS4) – Autopsies are being performed on the bodies of a man and woman found dead inside a southwest Miami-Dade home on Monday.
"I can't believe it, I can't believe it, because these are the people you would see, neighbors you know," Jesus Liz told CBS4's Natalia Zea.
"I was kind of shocked to say the least," said neighbor Ra Thompkins.
She said the man and woman who lived in the house at 13433 289th Terrace were in their 20s and moved in about a year ago.
"From the outside looking in, they seemed happy," Thompkins told Zea.
Miami-Dade Police said the man's father came to the house Monday afternoon to check on his son who didn't show up for work. He found the two bodies.
Neighbors believe the woman found is the son's girlfriend. They said they never heard arguing at the house and never saw police called here before. They want to know what happened, so they can breathe a little easier.
"You don't know if it was a break-in, you don't know what it is. If it was a break-in, everybody around here could be a little worried," said Liz.
Thompkins agrees.
"If it was a double murder that puts me on edge. Was this a crime of passion? Is this a random act? Do we have something to worry about?"
Police have not released the names of the couple or stated the cause of death.
"We are not going to rule out the possibility of this being a murder-suicide. At the same time, it's still too early, we're not going to rule anything out," said Miami-Dade Police Detective Roy Rutland.
Police told CBS4 Natalia Zea late Tuesday morning that they were not looking for any suspects in the case.
Some furniture, including a bed head board, and a suitcase has been in the front of the home since Saturday. Neighbors thought the couple was going to move.
"I just thought it was harmless, like okay they're just moving because people move in and out of that house frequently, so I thought okay we'll get new neighbors soon," said Thompkins.
