WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBSMiami/AP) — Two people convicted of sex trafficking in South Florida are facing potential life sentences.
A jury in West Palm Beach convicted both Dontavious Blake and Tara Jo Moore. They each face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years and potentially up to life behind bars.
Evidence showed that a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl both started working as prostitutes for the pair in 2011. The girls mainly worked around Palm Beach County hotels. Authorities say Blake handled calls from potential clients and negotiated prices.
Both were convicted of sex trafficking of children and conspiracy. The case was brought under the nationwide Project Safe Childhood aimed at combating child sexual abuse and exploitation.
