TV Thieves Seen On Video Targeting Pompano Beach Businesses
POMPANO BEACH (CBSMiami) – Surveillance video has revealed each second of a burglary as it unfolded at a Pompano Beach barber shop.
BSO hopes that the surveillance can help bust the group of serial television thieves.
On November 25, days before Thanksgiving, two men are seen smashing their way into the Excel Barber Shop on Dixie highway in Pompano Beach. They stole two large flat panel television sets within minutes.
"They were wearing gloves, so there are no fingerprints," owner Christopher Turenne tells CBS 4 news. Turenne says he'll have to dig into his own wallet to replace the sets which customers watched while getting their hair cut.
"I was very disappointed. You work hard. It's a sad situation." Asked what he thought of the thieves. "I hope they change," remarked Turenne.
In the surveillance from his barber shop, one burglar is seen wearing a Halloween mask while the other is wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.
The same burglar in the white hooded sweatshirt is seen three days later helping 'two other' thieves steal eight flat screen televisions from Bru's Room Restaurant at 235 S. Federal Highway in Pompano Beach.
It happened on the screened patio.
Customers who are used to watching tons of TV's found they have fewer channels to surf.
"It was the first thing I noticed when I walked in, and I looked up and said, what the heck?" said patron Jim Lawler.
If you have information on the television burglaries call Broward Crimestoppers (954) 493-TIPS.
