TS Philippe Gains Strength
MIAMI (CBS4) – Despite encountering some resistance from upper level winds over the eastern Atlantic, Tropical Storm Philippe has gained a bit in strength.
At 11 a.m. Monday, Philippe was located 750 miles southeast of Bermuda. Maximum sustained winds had increased from 50 mph to 65 mph with some higher gusts.
The system was moving to the west-southwest at 12 mph.
The National Hurricane Center said Philippe is expected to continue on a west-southwest path through early Tuesday followed by a turn to the west-northwest. Little change in strength is expected over the next couple of days.
