Trumps Are Giving Doral A Makeover
DORAL (CBSMiami) – The iconic Doral Country Club is undergoing quite a facelift under its new owner, one Donald Trump. From the Blue Monster golf course to the hotel, fitness center, and restaurants, it's all getting a brand new look.
"We literally took it and demolished everything," said Eric Trump, Exec. Vice-President of Development and Acquisitions for the Trump Organization.
The Donald dropped $150 million for the Doral Country Club roughly a year ago and will put another $250 million into the facility to renovate it.
"We spend a lot of time here in South Florida," Eric Trump said. "Here at Doral, we purchased an iconic property at a very good price and we are going to do well with it."
The renovations are on schedule for completion in 2014. The Trump National Doral Miami will have 800 brand new rooms, five championship golf courses, including a revamped Blue Monster. Eric and his father will have plenty of room to work on their golf game, or talk politics.
"I can't walk down the street without people saying, 'Eric, please tell your father to run, please tell him to run for president we need a guy like that not all these career politicians,'" Eric told CBS4.
Eric said he is planning to get married sometime next year and while he hasn't picked a location for the wedding, he hasn't ruled out the family's estate in Palm Beach, or even just up the road from CBS4 in Doral.
