Trump Takes Out His Frustrations With FP&L On Twitter
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Looks like "The Donald" is none too happy with Florida Power & Light.
Donald Trump recently ripped the power company on his Twitter account.
"In my opinion," he posted, "One of the worst utility companies in the country is Florida Power and Light."
Trump apparently doesn't like the condition of the utility poles around the Trump National Doral Miami, formerly the Doral Golf Resort & Spa, which he bought last year for $150 million.
"Florida Power and Light has disgusting rotting utility poles outside Doral in Miami,'' Trump tweeted. "They should put in new ones or be sued."
He's threatened to sue FPL if they poles around the resort aren't upgraded.
"We're trying to build a magnificent resort , it's going to be the finest resort in the United States and we think they should put up poles that at a minimum look good," said Donald Trump.
"We want them to do the right job. I've had run-ins with them before in the past in Palm Beach and I did very well against them these are not people that are not thinking about people," Donald Trump said.
A FPL spokesman told CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald that they've been making improvements in the area.
Rob Gould - VP of Marketing & Communication for the Florida Power & Light Company, said, "At the end of the day facts matter. He made some baseless comments about the company and 10,000 employees and we take great exception to that."
Gould said, "We're happy to work with Mr. Trump and his organization but at the end of the day I don't think Mr. Trump would expect a handout at the expense of FPL customers"
But Donald Trump says, "We spent millions of dollars a year to FPL and we expect to get proper service and we want safety and we want incentives too".
