Trump Holds 'Make America Great Again' Rally In Arizona

MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- President Donald Trump was in the desert Tuesday night, rallying his base in Arizona.
It was the first time Trump returned to Phoenix since taking office.
Trump took center stage after a tour of a border patrol center near the Mexican border.
"It is finally time to rebuild our country, take care of our people and to fight for the jobs our great American workers deserve," he said.
As Trump supporters filed into the arena, protesters marched through the streets to denounce the president's previous views on Charlottesville.
Others refused to forget the divisive rhetoric Trump used against illegal immigrants on the campaign trail.
The mayor of Phoenix had asked President Trump to delay his visit here as a way to keep the peace.
With that request ignored, police fanned out across the city to help calm tensions.
One Trump supporter also tried to step in.
"I would like to take the rhetoric down a little bit. Let's all work together here," he said.
Many demonstrators remain angry the president is considering pardoning former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who was recently convicted of carrying out illegal traffic patrols targeting immigrants.
The state's two Republican senators, John McCain and Jeff Flake, have publicly clashed with the president in recent days.
Both declined to join Trump at his events in the state.
At the rally, Trump once again endorsed Sen. Flake's primary opponent.
