Tropical Storm Watch Posted For Bermuda
MIAMI (CBS4) - A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Bermuda as Tropical Storm Maria slowly moves across the Atlantic.
At 2 p.m., the center of the system was about 320 miles east of the southeastern Bahamas and about 725 miles south southwest of Bermuda.
The storm, which lashed Puerto Rico with heavy rainfall, had maximum sustained winds of 50 mph as it moved to the north-northwest near 3 mph.
A gradual turn toward the north and an increase in forward speed are expected by early Wednesday. Maria is expected to pass west of Bermuda on Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Rainfall from Maria is expected to be up to four inches, with up to eight inches in isolated areas, over portions of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico through Tuesday evening.
