TS Philippe Barely Hanging On To Tropical Storm Status
MIAMI (CBS4) – Tropical Storm Phillipe is barely hanging on as a tropical storm Tuesday afternoon as it moves northwest across the Atlantic.
At 11 p.m., Philippe was located 865 miles west of the Cape Verde islands. Maximum sustained winds have dropped to 40 mph with some higher gusts.
The system was moving to the northwest at 10 mph. The National Hurricane Center said Philippe is expected to weaken further and could become a tropical depression on Wednesday.
