Tropical Storm Nate Stays Nearly Stationary Over Bay Of Campeche
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – With the zenith of hurricane season is just a few days away; it's becoming quite busy in the tropics as Tropical Storm Nate formed Wednesday evening in the Bay of Campeche.
As of 11 p.m., Tropical Storm Nate was located around 150 miles west of Campeche, Mexico. Maximum sustained winds with Nate are 45 miles per hour.
Tropical storm force winds extend 105 miles away from the center.
The National Hurricane Center forecasters said the storm is nearly stationary over the bay. Little movement is expected over the next 24 hours, but a slow move to the north is expected by Friday.
Nate has caused the government of Mexico to issue tropical storm warnings from Chilitepec to Celestun.
The NHC predicts Nate could produce as much as 8 inches of rain over the Mexican states of Campeche, Tabasco, and southern Veracruz.
