Michael's Winds Intensify, Storm Upgrades To Hurricane
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Michael intensified to a hurricane Wednesday night as it continues to move slowly to the northeast in the central Atlantic.
At 11 p.m., the center of the storm was about 1,060 miles west-southwest of the Azores.
Maximum sustained winds had increased to 75 mph with some higher gusts. The storm was moving northeast at 7 mph.
No watches or warnings are in place due to Michael.
The NHC forecasts that the system will turn toward the north-northwest on Friday.
