Gert Becomes Second Hurricane Of 2017 Season

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Storm Gert has become the second hurricane of the 2017 season.
At 11 p.m., the center of the system at about 445 miles west of Bermuda.
Gert is moving toward the north near 8 mph. A turn toward the northeast with an increase in forward speed is expected late Tuesday or Tuesday night
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 75 mph with higher gusts.
Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
There are no watches or warnings in effect.
