Chris Drops Back To Tropical Storm Strength
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Swirling hundreds of miles off the Canadian coastline Chris, what was once the first hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, has weakened back into a tropical storm.
At 5 p.m. Chris was located about 585 miles east-southeast of Cape Race, Newfoundland.
The storm's maximum sustained winds has increased to 70 miles per hour with some higher gusts.
It was moving to north-northeast at near 14 miles per hour.
No watches or warning have been posted and Chris is not a threat to land at this time.
Chris is expected to take a turn northwest on Friday when it is expected to weaken even further into a post tropical disturbance.
