Tropical Storm Chris Forms In Atlantic

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The 2012 Atlantic hurricane season is less than a month old, but the third named storm has formed well to the northeast of Bermuda.

Tropical Storm Chris is located roughly 560 miles south-southwest of Cape Race, Newfoundland.

The storm has maximum sustained winds of 45 miles per hour with some higher gusts.

The storm is moving to the east at near 8 miles per hour and forecasters expect the system to pick up speed over the next 24 hours.

Chris forecast to become a post-tropical cyclone Wednesday night or Thursday.

CBS4 Meteorologist David Bernard said, "We're not paying a lot of attention to this. Its all the way up near Canada, headed East, and a danger only to shipping."
