Barry A Post-Tropical Cyclone, Still Producing Heavy Rain Over Mexico
MIAMI (CBSMiami) –Tropical Storm Barry made landfall in Veracruz Mexico Thursday morning and was downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone by Thursday night.
The storm is still producing torrential rains in the region.
At 11:00 p.m., Barry was located 60 miles east northeast of Mexico City, Mexico and is currently heading west at 6 mph. When Barry made landfall, it had maximum sustained winds at 45 mph but winds have since decreased to 25 mph.
Forecasters say the Atlantic hurricane season's second tropical storm is drenching areas in its path with between 3 and 10 inches of rain. They say the storm could cause life-threatening flash flooding and mudslides.
