Tropical Depression 8 Moving Across Inland Mexico
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Tropical Depression 8 formed Friday afternoon—and the center is already making landfall across inland areas of Mexico.
Tropical Depression 8 has maximum sustained winds of 30 mph and is currently moving west-southwest at 8 mph.
The center of the storm made landfall around the area of Tampico, Mexico Friday afternoon.
Tropical Depression 8 is expected to continue on its current path and little change in strength is expected as the center heads farther inland. In fact, the system will likely degenerate to a remnant low pressure area over Mexico on Saturday.
Expected rainfall will likely to amount to 3 to 5 inches—with isolated amounts of 10 inches in Veracruz. These rains could cause flash floods and mudslides.
