Trio Of Teens Charged In Tamarac, Deerfield Beach Burglaries
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – A trio of teens suspected of burglarizing two homes on the same night while their owners slept in their beds is behind bars.
Brianna Anderson, 19; David Nicholas, 19 and an un-named 17-year old male have been charged with multiple counts including burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief. Anderson tried to cash checks stolen from the homeowners was also charged with two counts of uttering a forged check.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said the teens started their October 5th crime spree in Tamarac where they crept into a woman's home as she slept and stole a computer and a 2008 BMW. They drove the car to the Deerfield Beach burglary and where they abandoned it.
Two of the suspects were caught on video concealing their faces and spray painting the lens of a surveillance camera on the patio of a Deerfield Beach home. Then they slipped inside and stole $30,000 dollars in jewelry, electronics, checks, and other property.
Detectives believe the teens possibly intended to steal the family Corvette but the dog scared them away before they could take it. While some of the stolen property has been recovered, detectives have been unable to recover one victim's wedding ring.
Anyone with additional information about these suspects or the location of the missing wedding ring is urged to call Det. Scott Nida at (954) 480-4316 or Crime Stoppers of Broward County at (954) 493-TIPS (8477).
