Trio Arrested At Shrimp Farm Stealing Copper Wire
SUMMERLAND KEY (CBS4) -- Three people were taken to jail Thursday after they were caught stealing copper wire from an old shrimp farm on Summerland Key.
Monroe County Sheriff's deputies were alerted to three trespassers by the manager of the property at 3 p.m., according to a Monroe County Sheriff's Department release.
When deputies arrived they heard banging coming from one of the buildings on the property. Once the source of the noise was located, the deputies discovered Yoel Alfonso, 27, of Stock Island, Kenia Bosque, 28 and Jose Hidalgo, 33, both of Miami.
Alfonso allegedly admitted the three of them were there to take copper wire. There were tools at the scene and a bundle of wire, along with a bucket half full of stripped wire.
All three were booked into jail on charges of burglary and theft.
