Transformers Invade Kennedy Space Center
CAPE CANAVERAL (CBS4) – Visitors to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex will get to see more than just shuttles, rockets and the history of space flight this summer. They will also get to watch as Optimus Prime and Autobots save the world again in the new movie "Transformers: Dark of the Moon".
The 3D film will be shown at the space center's Imax theater starting Wednesday through September 5th. It's a homecoming of sorts, parts of the film were shot at KSC and the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
A military fatigue costume worn by actor Josh Duhamel in the film will be on display at KSC's Sci-Fi Summer exhibit.
Battling robots are not the only special event this summer at the visitor's center. As part of the Sci-Fi Summer, there is also the Star Trek: The Exhibition where guests can ride the Star Trek Shuttlecraft simulator and check out props from the ground breaking series including a recreation of the U.S.S. Enterprise Bridge from the original series, where visitors can sit in the command chair of Star Trek's most famous captain: James T. Kirk. There are also actual props and costumes used in the TV series' and films along with Engineering and Sick Bay replica sets from Star Trek: The Next Generation, interactive kiosks, rare photo opportunities and unique adventures.
Star Trek: The Exhibition also runs through September 5th.
