CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami/AP) — The University of Miami basketball team is hoping that a strong foundation will keep the team amongst the ACC's best in upcoming seasons.
Guard Rashad Muhammad will join the Miami Hurricanes' basketball team as a transfer from San Jose State, where he led the team in the scoring each of the past two seasons.
A 6-foot-6 guard, Muhammad is the younger brother of Minnesota Timberwolves forward Shabazz Muhammad. He'll sit out the 2015-16 season and have two years of eligibility.
Rashad Muhammad averaged 13.2 points as a freshman and 13.9 last season. He set the Mountain West Conference freshman record for 3-pointers made in a season with 75.
Muhammad is the 10th transfer to join the Hurricanes since Jim Larranaga became coach in 2011.
