Trade Market Warming Up For Marlins' LoMo

ORLANDO (CBSMiami) – The Miami Marlins are reportedly going to trade first baseman Logan Morrison, the only question is when the team will pull the trigger.

The Marlins signed free agent first baseman Garret Jones on Monday and that made Morrison expendable to the team. Morrison is the better player, but has not been able to stay on the field for the Marlins in the last two seasons and his overall hitting has declined.

According to FoxSports.com's Jon Morosi, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Tampa Bay Rays have talked to the Marlins about acquiring Morrison. He's still young and if he can stay on the field will be a positive addition to any roster in major league baseball.

The Pirates have reportedly talked about a trade involving Josh Harrison and a separate player for Morrison. The Marlins have reportedly told the Rays they like infielder Sean Rodriguez, who would essentially keep third base warm until Colin Moran is ready to take over.

CBS' Jon Heyman said the Blue Jays and Orioles are also interested in acquiring Morrison.

It may be telling that the Orioles, Pirate, and Rays, all teams that have enjoyed success in recent years, are interested in Morrison; yet Miami, which has struggled to win for nearly a decade, is giving up on him.
