MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- Eat and energize. That's the Freshii motto. It's fast food that's good for you .
"What I wanted to do was take a fresh produce commodity and create an amazing brand around it and then scale it, not unlike what Starbucks did to the coffee bean. We wanted to do to vegetables" said Matthew Corrin, the company's founder.
Canadian Matthew Corrin, 33, founded the Freshii concept back in 2005 with the very first store in Toronto. Two years later they had 10 Freshiis in Canada.
"Then I moved my wife and unborn child to Chicago to prove that guys who like steak and potatoes in the Midwest would also like healthy foods. I was right," Corrin said. "We now have 21 stores in Chicago. We opened two stores every week. We will finish this year with 150 restaurants."

Now Freshii is in Wynwood, with plans to open 12 more in Miami in a year.
"Our mission is we really want people to live healthier, ultimately longer lives by making healthy food more convenient," said Corrin.
On the menu, custom-made green wraps, salads, quinoa bowls, and fresh pressed juices. Everything is under 10 bucks .
Customers can order store's green bowl for five bucks and get future discounts on food when they bring it back but there's more.
"All proceeds go to building school gardens and school kitchens in Kenya. One year after we launched this partnership we're creating 5,000 lunches in Kenya just with this bowl," he said.
And Freshii educates too. As a play on a science class periodic table, Fresshi's periodic wall has info on the food the customers are eating.
CBS4's Lisa Petrillo put the healthy food to the taste test.
First Asian Vegetable Soup made with vegetable broth, rice noodles, spinach, corn, edamame, carrots and celery.
"If you have any kind of feeling of cold or thinking of getting a cold, this would be Asian chicken soup for the soul without the chicken," Petrillo said while tasting the food.
The Pangoa Bowl made of brown rice, avocado, black beans, aged cheddar, corn, tomatoes, cilantro, lime wedge and hot sauce.
"It's a party in a bowl and there's a kick in the bbq sauce," she said.
Petrillo then tasted the Metaboost Wrap that has collard greens, spinach, kale, mangoes, carrots, edamame, almonds and goat cheese.
"The cheese with greens and the veggies make it decadent. It feels fancy but it's not," she said.
Freshii is open 7 days a week during breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
