Tornado Damages Homes In Naples
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) — Several homes were damaged and trees knocked down when a tornado from Saturday's storms touched down in East Naples.
There were no reports of any injuries.
The tornado touched down as Tropical Storm Debby formed.
Forecasters say there is always a possibility of an isolated tornado as storms form.
Senior hurricane specialist Stacy Stewart with the National Hurricane Center says "tornadic activity goes up" because such strong winds are not typical. He adds that the tornados tend to be quick or short-lived, which is difficult to detect on radar. He recommends that residents "keep an eye on the sky" and to be safe.
