Top Wineries Near South Florida

While wine can be purchased at many grocery stores, mini-marts and liquor stores throughout South Florida, the varieties of wine are small. But no need to fret. A visit to one of the wineries in South Florida will reveal a treasure trove of fine wines to choose from. Mango wines, berry wines and even citrus wines abound at the many wineries that are within a few minutes to a few hours drive of Miami. So pick a day to tour all the wineries in the area and you're sure to find something that tickles your tongue.

Schnebly's has been creating wine made from fruit since 2003.  Mango, Lychee, Passion Fruit, guava and Carambola are just a few of ingredients used in making the famous Schnebly fruit wines. Spices and herbs are also used to make great tasting wines. Tours of Schnebly's include seeing how the wine is made, a trip to the vineyards and even beer tasting for an additional fee. Schnebly's also has space for rent for private parties, weddings, birthdays and more.

Gary Roberts, the owner and vintner at Endless Summer Vineyard and Winery, began his winery business in 2009. This winery has a surfing memorabilia motif to its tasting room, including a belly board dating back to 1910. The tour of this winery includes a stroll through the vineyards, a walk along the white sand beach and even includes a chance to feed the fish and turtles that call the winery their home. Special events are held frequently at this winery like the Sunday Wine Down with Matt Manning, the Sunday Wine Blues & Soul with Vince Love and many other events.

Only 2 1/2 hours away from Miami is the award winning Henscratch Farms Vineyard & Winery. This winery has been producing wine since November 2003. Six of Henscratch Farms' wines won awards at the 2015 International Wine Competition held at the Florida States Fair. Henscratch Farms also offers visitors a chance to take part in the annual grape stomp held every year in early August. Visitors can pre-order their wine, stomp the grapes themselves and have their own private label wine ready for delivery around Thanksgiving.

Florida Orange Grove Winery opened its doors to the public in 1997. Since then, this winery has produced tropical, citrus and berry wines that proudly display the the Florida Sunshine Tree, which is the official mark of superior quality wines. Florida Orange Groves Winery produces 43 different varieties of wines that are made with 100 percent juice from the fruit listed on the bottle's label. Each bottle of wine made by Florida Orange Grove Winery requires up to nine pounds of fruit. The winery offers tours and wine tasting seven days a week, but is closed on all major holidays.

The Shops at Pembroke Gardens is the location of That Wine Place. While this is not an actual winery, an important stop on any wine tasting tour because of the multitude of wines and gourmet delicacies found at this shop. There are over 400 different wines in stock at That Wine Place. The unique thing about this shop is the wine dispensing system that allows visitors to taste each wine before a purchase is made. To complement the wine tasting experience, cheese platters, tapas, deserts and sandwiches are also available for purchase at That Wine Place.
