Top Ways To Spend New Year's Day In South Florida

South Florida is never short of activity. There is always something for everyone to experience, and experiences make memories. But instead of just making memories this New Year's Day, make healthy habits also. Of course, you can enjoy a day at the beach, a walk at the zoo, take your children to play in the park. This is something you should really be doing every day: enjoying nature, enjoying life and enjoying time with the family. But, since it's New Year's, why don't you enter 2016 with a bang? Why don't you create memories to last a lifetime? If you want new experiences and something interesting to implement into your "new you," make sure to check out the list below.

Resolution #4: Get In Shape | Moon Joggers
Moon Joggers
Multiple Locations
Miami, Florida 33152
www.moonjoggers.com

This is an awesome way to start the new year: keeping in shape and supporting a cause. Moon Joggers is an organization that has found its way into many communities around the United States. They have a centralized website where each community competes against one another in the name of a cause and with pride of their city. Miami's cause for the month of January kicks off on New Year's Day and is being done in the name of glaucoma. The "Eyeball Run for Glaucoma" is a fundraiser that supports The Glaucoma Research Foundation. Participants may run for free. But in order to win an award, they must donate at least $5 to the organization, and registration will cost $20. But it's your run: you select your own course. Opt to sightsee a new area. Start a secondary resolution, and get to know your community!

Resolution #5: Be More Creative | Transformation of Echo: World of Dreams by Leah Brown
Young At Art Museum
751 SW 121st Ave.
Davie, Florida 33325
(954) 424-0085
www.youngatartmuseum.org

Open from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., the Young At Art Museum of Davie will be showcasing sculptures by Miami-based artist, Leah Brown, as she manifests a "dream-like" wonderland from fiberglass and plastercasting. For the last few months, this exhibit has been a favorite of many traveling to the museum. This will be your last chance to experience this creative landscape before it leaves the museum's walls. Large figures are draped in white, blending in with a fabric landscape, illuminated by video projection that enhances the illusion that you are actually a part of the illusion. Capturing an abstract state of mind that meshes reality with imagination, you become one with the art, which is a perfect way to embrace creativity in the New Year!
