Top Science Exhibits In South Florida

South Florida children may learn so much about science in the fun, exciting and productive learning environments of local museums. The Museum of Discovery and Science and the Miami Museum of Science provide hours of enjoyment as well as incredible facts and science exploration opportunities covering everything from the Amazon to outer space. Both museums utilize top technologies and equipment to give children the most realistic and clearly explained lessons on our natural world. Parents may help children broaden their horizons outside of the classrooms while simultaneously staving off the possibility for any after-school or weekend boredom and minimizing time in front of the TV.

The Museum of Discovery and Science does not disappoint with an expansive multi-level property of fun, interactive and educational science exhibitions. "Runways to Rockets: Our Place in Aerospace" is one of the most popular exhibitions of the museum, teaching children about how scientists learn about space science and the universe as well as how space exploration is made possible. Children also learn why it is significant for us to know as much as possible about space. The exhibit includes everything from information on space voyages, space vehicles, gravity and more. There's even a fun trip simulation to the Moon or Mars in a cinema-like setting with a large screen that moves for added reality and excitement.

"Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes and Other Riches"

The Miami Museum of Science is a fun place of exploration and education for the little ones. September 2014 marks the return of "Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes And Other Riches," an exhibit from 2005 that traveled around the world to places even as far as London. The exhibit won't be in Miami for long and it's a must-see for children featuring the exotic and diverse ecosystems of the Amazon. The exhibition includes video boat tours of the Amazon, exhibits on animals including anacondas and piranhas, education and exploration of the different aspects of the Amazon including lakes and forests and much more.

"Energy Tracker"

The "Energy Tracker" at the Miami Museum of Science is focused on all things energy and was created in relation to the museum's new upcoming move to Downtown Miami. The Downtown Miami building will house the museum in a three-story building using the latest in renewable energy technology capabilities thanks to the City of Miami and the U.S. Department of Energy. "Energy Tracker" includes interactive popular debates on climate change, a green energy rooftop garden, a wind turbine and more. There's even a visually stimulating dance floor that uses the energy from dancers' movements to produce electricity.

"Florida Ecoscapes"

The Museum of Discovery and Science presents children and families with a sprawling two-level exhibit of Florida ecosystems. Plants, animals and habitats are on display for exploration and education including one of the largest public displays of a captive Atlantic coral reef. The interactive exhibit includes such animals as alligators, bats, fish and sea turtles. The importance of the types of interactions made between humans and the ecosystems to protect the environment are also given a great focus.

"Aviation Station"

The "Aviation Station" is a 4,000-square-foot attraction at the Museum of Science and Discovery. Visitors learn about air flight, wind tunnels and other elements of aviation. The MaxFlight full motion simulator is a popular interactive exhibit for children, teens and adults alike as visitors may climb into a cockpit and simulate real air flight in a moving pod complete with controls and visuals on a screen. The simulator uses roll and spin technology for simulating flight tricks and it can move 360 degrees.
