Top Performers From The Dolphins Week 2 Loss In Jacksonville

The Miami Dolphins Week 2 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars is a game that most fans in South Florida will hope to forget sooner rather than later.  The Dolphins came into the season with a lot of hype, and rightly so considering the moves made during the offseason and the way they looked during the August games that don't count.

But with the beginning of September came the sobering reality that games are not played on paper.  Miami has looked average-at-best, with the same defensive issues bleeding over from the final weeks of last season.

Some players on the Dolphins roster are looking good this year, but unfortunately the bad far outweighs the good.  That being said, I'm not one to ignore the achievements of few due to the struggles of many.  Here are Miami's top performers from the loss to Jacksonville last weekend.

OFFENSIVE PLAYERS

Ryan Tannehill

Tannehill followed up his decent Week 1 performance with a great one in Jacksonville. He completed 30 of his 44 passes while throwing for 359 yards and two touchdowns for a rating of 108.0.  He looked better in the red zone as well, which was a nice improvement from the Redskins game.  Though this isn't necessarily a good thing for the rest of the team, Tannehill did lead the Dolphins in rushing with three attempts going for 17 yards.

Rishard Matthews

The guy who earlier this year asked to be traded due to thinking he'd get lost in the offense has become one of Tannehill's favorite targets.  Matthews had a big game on Sunday, catching six passes for 115 yards.  He now has 10 catches for 149 yards and a touchdown through two games.

Jarvis Landry

If you're noticing a theme here, you're correct.  The passing game was the one and only part of Miami's offense that is worth mentioning in this post.   Landry will likely make this list a lot this season.  He made the same amount of catches against the Jags as he did against Washington, eight, despite getting two less targets than he did the week before (10 compared to 12).  With his 110 receiving yards on Sunday, Landry cracked the 100 yard plateau for the first time in his career.  Additionally, he's now caught at least five passes in 11 straight games dating back to Week 9 of last season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYERS

Jelani Jenkins

While the Dolphins linebacker play always seems to leave something to be desired, Jenkins knows how to find the ball.  His 12 tackles, including two for loss, led the team against Jacksonville and gives him a total of 23 on the young season.  After leading Miami last season with 110 tackles it appears that he's on his way to another team-leading year in 2015.

Reshad Jones

This guy has Pro Bowl written all over him if he keeps playing the way he has during the first two weeks of the season.  He now has 23 tackles in Miami's two games after logging 11 against the Jaguars.  Jones has also recorded a tackle for loss in each of the two games.
