The Miami Dolphins kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 15-13 win over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday at Sun Life Stadium.
The win improves Miami's record to 5-7, good enough for 11t h place in the AFC. The top six teams qualify for the playoffs, so the Dolphins have a lot of work to do if they want to end their six year playoff drought.
During the week leading up to the game Miami fired offensive coordinator Bill Lazor and handed the play calling duties to quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor.
A big reason for letting Lazor go was his inability to run a balanced offense, with the Dolphins passing the ball far more than rushing it.
Heading into the Ravens game it was clear that Miami planned on running the ball more often, and they did just that.
Here are the top performers from the Dolphins win over the Ravens.
Lamar Miller
The Dolphins said all week that they were going to run the ball more, and they did just that on Sunday. Miller received the majority of the carries, accounting for 20 of Miami's 26 rushes. He finished with 113 yards on the ground, his third 100-yard game of the season, while adding one reception for five yards.
Reshad Jones
Jones continued his Pro Bowl-worthy season by coming away with his fourth interception of the year and adding 10 tackles to his team-leading total of 107.
Derrick Shelby
Shelby's role on the Dolphins defense has grown larger in recent weeks and he continued to justify that decision on Sunday. He constantly found himself in the Ravens backfield and came away with one of the biggest plays of the day, tipping a Matt Schaub pass in the air and catching it himself before returning the interception for a Miami touchdown. Shelby also finished with three tackles and three quarterback hits.
DeVante Parker
Like Shelby, Parker continues to find himself on the field more and more and for the second straight week, the rookie made a difference for the Dolphins. Parker made three catches against Baltimore for 63 yards and a touchdown. In the last two weeks Parker has made seven catches for 143 yards, an average of 20.4 yards per reception, and two touchdowns.
