Top Performers From Miami's Big Win Over San Diego

Heading into Sunday's game against the San Diego Chargers, questions remained as to which Miami Dolphins team would show up.  They've shown flashes of greatness on both sides of the ball all season but hadn't been able to put it all together for a complete game.  That changed in a big way as the Dolphins absolutely dominated the visiting Chargers on offense and defense, making a huge statement in the AFC with their 37-0 victory.

Miami has now won three straight games and four of their last five, with the lone loss coming on the final play against the Green Bay Packers. During that five game span the Dolphins are outscoring their opponents 153-68, averaging an impressive 30.6 points per game. It certainly appears that the Dolphins have turned a corner but that will surely be tested as their tough November schedule continues this Sunday in Detroit. In the meantime, here are the top performers from Miami's big win over San Diego.

Ryan Tannehill

It's starting to look like the Dolphins may have found their franchise quarterback after all.  Tannehill has played some of the best games in his career over the past several games, posting a passer rating of 100.0 or better in three of his past five games.  His rating of 125.6 against the Chargers was the highest he's ever posted in the NFL.  Tannehill went 24 of 34, throwing for 288 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions while running for an additional 47 yards on four carries.

Charles Clay

For the second time in three weeks, Big Play Clay had a big impact during a Dolphins win.  He tied a season-high with eight targets against San Diego, reeling in five catches for 65 yards (another season-high) and a touchdown, his second of the season.  Clay's best two games this season have come in the last three weeks.  He had a 4-58-1 line during the Dolphins road win in Chicago.

Reshad Jones

Jones didn't miss a beat after sitting out the first four games of the season.  He's been one of the most impactful players on a Dolphins defense that is full of playmakers, ranking amongst the team leaders in tackles despite playing in four less games than the majority of the defense.  Jones tied for the team lead in tackles against San Diego with five while adding his second interception of the season, both of which have come in the last three games.

Brent Grimes

The Dolphins Pro Bowl cornerback has been playing some great football in recent weeks after getting off to a somewhat slow start this season.  In the past two weeks Grimes has come away with three interceptions, one of which he took to the house.  He picked off Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers twice on Sunday, bringing his season total to four.  The Dolphins secondary has become a group of ball-hawking playmakers with Grimes leading the way.

Jarvis Landry

It seems with every passing week Dolphins rookie wideout Jarvis Landry is getting more and more comfortable playing in the NFL.  He's become one of the best return men in the league despite doing very little kick returning in college, and he's taken over the slot receiver role from veteran Brandon Gibson.  Landry caught another five passes for 46 yards against San Diego, scoring a touchdown on a beautiful tightrope walk along the sideline. He's also showing some great moves to pick up yards after the catch.  Landry is quickly becoming one of Ryan Tannehill's favorite and most reliable targets.
