MIAMI (CBSMiami) -- George Zimmerman's gun used to kill Florida teen Trayvon Martin has closed and the winning bid topped at $120,000.
According to TMZ, about seven verified users participated in the bidding war.
Now that the bidding has closed, Zimmerman has to verify the winner and that person's funds before the sale is finalized.
At last check, the top bidder will remain anonymous due to rules for the auction site.
There are conflicting reports that the gun sold for $138,000 but it may be a fake bid.
This was the third time Zimmerman had put the gun up for auction. Zimmerman pulled the auction from the United Gun Group site on Saturday, following a string of fake offers. A new auction was posted the same day with a minimum bid of $100,000 for the Kel-Tech pistol.
Zimmerman originally tried to auction the gun off on GunBroker.com but they took it down saying it wanted "no part in the listing on our website or in any of the publicity it is receiving."
Zimmerman's listing said a portion of the proceeds would go toward fighting what Zimmerman calls violence by the Black Lives Matter movement against law enforcement officers, combating anti-gun rhetoric of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and ending the career of state attorney Angela Corey, who led Zimmerman's prosecution.
