MIAMI (CBS4) - When picking a Mother's Day present for that special woman in your life, there are so many things to take into consideration.
Sure, getting a great deal is key, but when you head to the store to buy that present, there are certain things you need to keep in mind.
The goal, according to Jenny Isenman, is not to so much to pick the perfect present, but to pick the present that perfectly represent the mother in your life.
"We do a lot all year round. It is nice to have a day to dedicated to appreciating you," said Isenman, lifestyle expert and blogger who created The Suburban Jungle, a source for mothers and other women to share information and get advice on how to navigate through life's challenges.
Isenman has sought advice from other mothers and done hours of research to get great deals around South Florida. First up, how about flowers? Sites like Proflowers buyers can get up to 50 percent off their arrangements. The same goes for bloomstoday.com
"These are big sites. They have guarantees on how long their flowers will last. It is a no brainer," said Isenman to CBS4's Jorge Estevez.
On that special night out, gift givers can head to websites like Open Table to reserve space at your favorite local restaurant.
"They also have a lot of good deals that they will send you daily, sometimes up to 50 percent off on meals," said Isenman.
Spas may be a good gift for that special woman who deserves a break from the every day. Isenman found Adrianna at Sadhana Skin and Body Care in Davie.
"Its micro-dermabrasion, an oxygen facial and a Paraffin hand treatment for $85 dollars," said Isenman.
Isenman also suggests outlet stores for people looking for bargains and in South Florida, we have so many locations like the Dolphin Mall or the Sawgrass Mills Mall.
High fashion moms should look for great deals on little known websites like Outnet, where people can look for great deals on designer labels.
"They carry Chloe, Miu Miu, and other labels probably an average of 60 to 80 percent off," said Isenman
But shopping is only half of the most challenging part about Mother's Day. Men make so many mistakes when it comes to Mothers Day.
Among the most common mistakes include:
1. Assuming your wife want the same gift as your mother.
2. Expect women to buy for their mothers in law.
3. Forgetting to include the children
4. Buying Generic Flowers.
"Anything you can pick up at a gas station is a generic flower. I think you might as well come with a bouquet of Slim Jims," said Isenman who left the worst mistake until the end.
Her biggest don't for husbands: don't send your wives to a spa day on Mother's Day itself. It leaves them with no choice but to spend time away from their family, which is the reason they are mothers in the first place.
"The gift to me in it is giving them a free day not Mother's Day but a free day to go and relax and enjoy," said Isenman who wants everyone to just have a great Sunday.
