Tidal Flooding Still A Concern In S. Fla's Low Lying Areas
MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) - While the world's attention is focused on the northeast, Sandy left it's mark on South Florida with standing water and tidal surge from Broward to Miami-Dade.
Tuesday night, there was still standing water in low lying areas of Miami Beach. The City's Public Works teams planned to use portable pumps to remove tidal surge from Alton Road between 5th and 10th. They were also exploring using portable pumps along Purdy Avenue near 20th Street.
The city is utilizing giant electronic signs to advise motorists coming into the city of the standing water.
Miami Beach Officials tells CBS4 News they believe the worst has now past, but forecasters at the National Weather Service believe South Beach would be seeing tidal surge through at least Thursday.
