Three Robbery Suspects Captured In Hialeah After Police Pursuit

HIALEAH (CBSMiami) – Three robbery suspects have been taken into custody, one remains on the loose, after a police pursuit through the streets of Hialeah.

The three men, Zakee Doster, 19, Tyrone Moncrieff , 18, and Amos Servants, 35, have been charged with Fleeing and Eluding, Burglary, Grand Theft Auto, Resisting Arrest, Hit and Run accident, and Conspiracy to Commit an Armed Robbery.

Hialeah police said they had several undercover officers in the Westland Promenade plaza in the 3500 block of W 18th Avenue after receiving several calls from merchants in the plaza that men in a vehicle seemed to be casing it for a robbery.

Monday morning the officers spotted a vehicle which matched the description given by the callers but when they tried to pull it over, it sped off.

The pursuit came to an end in the area of W 14th Avenue and 42nd Street bailed out and ran into the surrounding neighborhood. Police set up a perimeter and placed Westland Hialeah Senior High School and a daycare center inside the perimeter on a precautionary lockdown.

Two of the men were quickly rounded up, the third was taken into custody a short time later.

Police said inside the vehicle they found skull caps and a sledge-hammer.  They believe the men were going to use them to commit a robbery or burglary.

Two stores in or near the plaza where undercover officers were stationed have been burglarized or robbed in the last year.

On August 15th, five people used a vehicle to break into an h.h.gregg store right across the street from the plaza. They made off with thousands of dollars in phones and computers.

Two weeks before that, ABC Jewelry in the plaza was robbed at gunpoint. During the robbery, the store's owner was injured when he was shot by one of the robbers.
