Three Dead In SW Dade Murder Suicide
SW MIAMI-DADE (CBSMiami) – Three people are dead in what police are calling a double murder-suicide in southwest Miami-Dade County Wednesday morning.
It happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1800 block of SW 70th Avenue. Police were sent to the home after neighbors reported hearing gunshots.
"I just heard the shots and I just came out and she was just laying like this. I don't know if she was dead or whatever," said Martha Valverde. "I ran and I got into my car. I left."
When officers arrived, they were told the shooter was still inside along with three adults and three children. Police helped Edelind Subarnaba and her children escape through a window.
Once they were out, police then went into the home and found the bodies of three adults.
After talking with the survivors, investigators learned that Oney Campiz, 34, had gotten into an argument with the homes residents, 55-year old Leonardo Diaz and 59-year old Martha Kim Jo.
As the fight grew more heated, police said Campiz, who was dating Subarnaba, pulled out a gun and shot both Kim Jo and Diaz, before turning the gun on himself.
Luz Marcela Pena worked with Marta at Boston Scientific for six years and was totally speechless when CBS4 spoke with her Wednesday morning.
"I never expected something happen like that," Marcela Pena said.
According to Pena, Kim Jo and her husband were unemployed. Pena said Kim Jo recently called her upset.
"She was so nervous," Pena said. "She said where are going to party, something. But she was talking very nervous. So I asked, 'What is going on Martha?' She said things were not going well in my house."
Neighbors and friends were left stunned at the morning violence.
"I feel like crying because I have never seen any problem between them," said neighbor Mariamparo Iglesias.
"Terrible. Terrible. I tell you it's quiet. Everyone here is a family," said neighbor Felix Garcia. "You know, shock; I'm in shock."
Campiz operated a marble and granite company out of a warehouse in Hialeah. His employees showed off his office which was lined with family photos.
"He's a great dad. Great friend. He never smoked. He never drank. He was a great dad," said Ricardo Andarco. "Only he knows what happened. I have no idea what happened."
