Third Man Sought In Weston Jewelry Store Robbery
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - Nearly three and a half months after three men robbed a Weston jewelry store at gunpoint, the Broward Sheriff's Office is asking the public for their help in putting the third suspect behind bars.
The robbery happened October 1st at the Mayors Jewelers at 4471 Weston Road. Just before 10:30 a.m. the three men walked into the store, pepper sprayed the guard and then smashed several glass display cases containing high-end jewelry with hammers. There were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said fourth person remained in the getaway car, a stolen BMW X-5, while the three others raided the store.
After the robbery, sheriff's deputies found the silver BMW X-5 in nearby Emerald Estates Park. The vehicle, reported stolen out of the city of Miramar, was still running when it was discovered.
Because of television news broadcasts of the surveillance video, Broward Crime Stoppers received tips providing the names Sylvester Sweet Fisher, 21, and Michael Martin. The crime lab confirmed that DNA from the car and the store matched Fisher, Martin and 19-year old Quartavius Davis.
Martin, 29, was arrested on November 23 and Davis was taken into custody on December 23. Both face armed robbery charges.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Sylvester Fisher is urged to call BSO Robbery Det. Fred Anderson at (954) 321-4270 or call Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
