These Stats Make Jaromir Jagr Seem Prehistoric

43-year-old Jaromir Jagr is more than four years older than the next oldest NHL player.
But these eye-popping facts via CBS Sports paint the 12-time All-Star as more of an artifact.
-- There have been 675 players to appear in at least one NHL game so far this season. Out of that group, 237 of them were not born when Jagr made his NHL debut on Oct. 5, 1990. That is 35 percent of the league.
-- When Jagr made his debut he was playing against two players that night that are currently NHL head coaches -- Joel Quenneville (Chicago Blackhawks) and Dave Tippett (Arizona Coyotes).
-- Two things really stand out about that. The first is that the NHL is currently a young man's game if 35 percent of the league is that young. The second is just how ridiculous it is that Jagr is not only still playing, but is still playing at a really high level. Most players that do hang around this long, or anything close to it, aren't anywhere near this productive.
-- Including Jagr, there have only been 10 players in the history of the league to play in the league at the age of 43 (or older). Only four of them (Mark Messier, Gordie Howe, Teemu Selanne and Doug Harvey) managed to record more than 20 points in a single season.
