MIAMI - New year, same Miami! 

With the new year two weeks in, you may be wondering what things you can do in Miami for fun with friends and family.

Here is a list of 10 things to do in Miami.

Go to a Miami Heat home game: With the 2022-23 NBA regular season at its midpoint, there is no better time to go watch the Miami Heat play. Currently, the Heat are within the top eight teams in the Eastern Conference battling for playoff positioning. Some marquee games ahead include matchups with the Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 76ers, and Memphis Grizzlies. 

Connect with nature at Everglades National Park: Everglades National Park consists of 1.5 million acres of wetland and is a spectacle to experience. Plan your visit accordingly as it can get busy. Activities include airboat rides, alligator shows, biking through the Shark Valley trail, and more. Lastly, don't forget to climb the 65-foot observation tower in Shark Valley for a bird's-eye view of the Everglades.

Explore Key Biscayne: Take a quick escape from the city and tour around Key Biscayne as it's only 15 minutes away from downtown Miami. The subtropical island paradise consists of beaches, nature preserves, bike paths, and restaurants. Make sure to stop by Crandon Park, as you can choose from numerous activities such as snorkeling, kiteboarding, and kayaking. 

Take a trip to the museums: Wander around the beauty of the museums in Miami with many to choose from. Some museums include the following: Perez Art Museum Miami, Phillip & Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Museum of Illusions, and many more. 

Have a cafecito: You aren't in Miami if you don't have a cafecito. Whether you prefer it black, with a bit of milk or you go for a big colada, a cafecito is an absolute must here in Miami. Stop by many of the cafeterias in South Florida and get your hands on one and you'll know why cafecito is a must-try and a can't-miss in the 305. 

Check out the beaches: From soft-warmed sand to water waves kicking in the sea, Miami is known for its beaches. Take a trip to some of Miami's hottest beaches, including South Beach, Hollywood Beach, Haulover Beach, Virginia Key Beach Park, and more. 

Have fun in the South Beach nightlife: When the sun goes down and the nightlife looms, visit South Beach's nightlife. Consisting of nightclubs, lounges, and bars, the party doesn't stop in the 305. Have a few drinks (responsibly) and dance the night away at LIV, The Wharf, Basement, and more. 

Visit Oleta River State Park: Located in North Miami Beach, visitors and unwind and relax in the midst of South Florida's largest urban park. It is the perfect escape for those seeking tranquility or having a fun time doing other activities such as dirt-bike riding, camping, kayaking, and more. 

Dive into the art at Wynwood: When visiting Wynwood, it's all about the art. On every street corner, you see different types of murals, graffiti, and paintings, as they all embody a meaning of their own. Start at the Wynwood Walls, the outdoor art exhibition that has been a hotspot attraction since 2009. It surely gives visitors Instagram-worthy photos for their feeds. 

Walk on the Calle Ocho Walk of Fame: Created in 1988, visit this historic land site in Little Havana. The site's goal is to recognize Latin celebrities of South Florida. Some names on the Walk of Fame include Cela Cruz, Gloria Estefan, and Julio Iglesias.
