The Rascals Back On Stage In South Florida
HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) - At a time when the music industry was dominated by the British invasion, four young men from the Northeast rose to the top becoming one of the most important American bands in rock and roll history.
For the first time in 42-years The Rascals, formerly known as The Young Rascals, are back on stage and in the spotlight.
On Thursday morning, media was invited to a sound check for their show that premiers Friday for a three night run at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood.
"I think music is the best thing a human being can leave to the planet and to the future because it's art," said vocalist Eddie Brigati.
Part concert, part Broadway, "The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream," show was created by Stevie Van Zandt, actor, musician and producer.
The song list includes some of their 60's smash hits like "Good Lovin'," "How Can I be Sure," and "It's a Beautiful Morning," fans of the group will be thrilled to see how great they still sound .
"The audience really makes a huge difference," said Felix Cavaliere, "They treat us like old friends who have been gone for like 30-years and then come back it's like, 'OH boy!'"
Just ask CBS4's publicist Lee Zimmerman, himself a rock music writer, is a fan of The Rascals.
"They were really the soundtrack of the 60's they were like The Lovin' Spoonfuls and The Birds, to see them and meet them in person is amazing," said Zimmerman.
"The Rascals: Once Upon a Dream," tour is at the Hard Rock in Hollywood Friday through Monday.
